About our dogs

We employ two types of working dogs. Our Border Collies are a valuable and necessary part of our everyday chores. Since we make extensive use of rotational grazing, the dogs are called upon to help move sheep regularly. Whenever we need to sort sheep, bring in or take out a ram, catch ones or measure weights, we depend on the working dogs to help us. Indeed, some chores would be almost impossible without them.

We also employ two Livestock Guardian Dogs. They lives with the sheep at all times and protects them from the predators that also live in our area. Their loud bark and large size help convince the coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats, stray dogs and eagles that these sheep are not on their menu. They regularly patrols the area keeping an eye on our stock as well as the neighbors'.
